China: important discovery of ancient tombs in the south of the country

Archaeologists recently discovered a large group of ancient tombs dating from the Six Dynasties to the Sui and Tang Dynasties (222-907) in southern China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Chinese News Agency says. Xinhua.

Covering an area of ​​70,000 square meters, the set of some 200 tombs is located in Dashugen Village, Fucheng County of Beihai City, according to the Beihai City Museum.

The most striking feature of the ensemble is that most of the burial chambers were built with pieces of stone, but some tombs were made of bricks and stones.

Remains, including pottery with various patterns, iron objects and bricks bearing inscriptions, have been unearthed from the graves. According to experts, these archaeological finds are of great value for research.
