China is currently the only nation in the world with its own permanently occupied space station in orbit. The country only needed a few years to build the Tiangong “sky palace”: on April 29, 2021, China put the first module into orbit, followed six weeks later by the first crew, and on October 31, 2022, a Long March rocket was launched 5B with the preliminary final module Mengtian on board. China has already gained experience with housing in space with the two space laboratories Tiangong-1 (launched in 2011) and Tiangong-2 (launched in 2016).
