China wants to send a robot on Mars mission this summer NOW

China plans to launch a Mars mission in July. With the help of a robot, the country wants to explore and analyze the surface of the red planet, the news agency writes AFP.

To keep up with the United States, China has invested billions of dollars in its space program. The Mars mission Marswen is part of that, as well as the placement of Chinese astronauts on the moon and the launch of a space station in 2022.

It will take several months for the robot to travel the distance of about 55 million kilometers between Earth and Mars. The distance is constantly changing because of their planetary orbits.

The U.S. has already sent four reconnaissance vehicles to Mars and plans to launch a fifth this summer. This vehicle is expected to land around February 2021.
