Christmas 2022: nearly 500 lost parcels were auctioned off by La Poste

As every year for 10 years, La Poste has auctioned 470 objects from lost parcels.

Unreported move, lack of postage, error of address… While our colleagues from Capital estimate that 2 million parcels pass through La Poste each year, some of which never reach their destination.

After six months, they become the property of La Poste and are auctioned off for the benefit of the Association of Families of Disabled Children (AFEH).

Nearly 120,000 euros in profit

A nice gesture which is also sometimes the opportunity to make a good deal. Play-station, toys, home appliances…As shown France 3the 470 objects were put up for auction with a starting price corresponding to a third of that displayed in store.

The opportunity to do good business? Not necessarily. “The sale also takes place on the internet and it goes up very very quickly”. Some buyers have thus paid as much or even more than if they had gone to the store. And will not benefit from the guarantee.

In total, the sale brought in between 100,000 and 120,000 euros for AFEH.
