Cinema: Isabelle Huppert at the top of the best actors of the 21st century

La Française is second in a list drawn up by the “New York Times”.

Isabelle Huppert is very appreciated in the United States where she was noticed in particular for her roles in “The Piano Lesson”, “The Drunkenness of Power” or “Greta”.


The century is only 20 years old, but we are already awarding prizes designating the best actors… France will not shy away from its pleasure with the prize list announced by the New York Times. This list, obviously subjective, puts Isabelle Huppert on the second step of the podium. Nicely framed by, in first place, Denzel Washington, and Daniel Day-Lewis, in third.

The French actress is very popular in the United States, where she was noted in particular for her roles in “The Piano Lesson”, “The Drunkenness of Power” or “Greta”.

Great absentees

As is often the case with the rankings, it is the absent ones who hold the attention: Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, all three awarded many times at the beginning of the century and appreciated for films that have made a hit, are not in the list of finalists of this list which includes 25 names.
