Coimbatore car blast; The NIA took over the investigation

Coimbatore: The National Investigation Agency has taken over the Coimbatore car bomb blast case. The NIA registered an FIR in the case on Wednesday. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin had recommended an NIA probe into the case.

Six people, including the relative of Jamesha Mubin, who died in the blast, have been arrested in the case so far. Muhammad Dhalka, Muhammad Azharuddin, Muhammad Riaz, Firoz Ismail, Muhammad Nawaz Ismail and Afsar Khan have been arrested.

Jamesha Mubeen was earlier questioned by the NIA on suspicion of having links with Zahran Hashim, the mastermind of the Easter terror attacks in Sri Lanka. In Coimbatore, the blast took place in front of Kottamedu Sangameshwar temple. The car was completely burnt. Jamesha Mubin’s dead body was found to contain chemical solvents that aid in burning. 13 samples were sent for testing.
