In the southwest at Collioure, a little paradise in the Pyrénées-Orientales, life is good right now. While waiting for the wave of tourists in summer, it is the locals who take advantage of the mild winter temperatures.

Currently in the middle of winter, it is around ten degrees at Collioure (Eastern Pyrenees), barely more in the water. A couple takes the opportunity to swim, because it is their favorite season. “There is no one in the sea, the water is clear, it is magnificent”, says the woman. This Catalan port sees its attendance multiply by six in summer, up to 20,000 people. But in January, it is deserted. The inhabitants also take the opportunity to sunbathe on the terrace.

Walks are also popular with the population, especially in winter to enjoy the calm before the wave of tourists. “It’s more intimate, it’s different. It’s this peaceful side that allows you to refocus a little on yourself”, says a hiker. It was also during this period that the wines of Collioure take advantage of it to mature. They bask in the sun on the balcony. The light gives the wine a fuller note.
