Leipzig entertain Gladbach at the Red Bull Arena on Sunday (28/2/2021) in the morning WIB in the continuation German League. The game had only been running for five minutes when the hosts were penalized.
Dayot Upamecano fouls Breel Embolo in the penalty area. Jonas Hofmann stepped forward as the executor and managed to beat the goalkeeper with a shot into the bottom right corner.
Leipzig tried to get up from this fast blow. But instead he conceded another goal in the 19th minute after Marcus Thuram finished an Embolo pass in the middle of the penalty box. 2-0 score lasted until the first half was over.
Leipzig tried to increase the intensity in the second half and almost immediately had an impact in the 51st minute. Alexander Sorloth scored a goal, but the referee disallowed it because the hand ball first occurred.
New home goal arrived in the 57th minute. Christopher Nkunku’s cross was struck by Marcel Halstenberg and gave Leipzig a chance.
Julian Nagelsmann’s squad did not let go of the gas pedal after taking the lead. In the 66th minute, Leipzig equalized with a Yussuf Poulsen shot from outside the penalty area.
Leipzig’s pressure paid off in injury time. In the 93rd minute, Nkunku’s free kick was struck by Sorloth’s header and ensured the hosts won.
With this victory, Leipzig remain with Bayern Munich by two points, collecting 50 points from 23 matches. While Gladbach is in eighth place with 33 points.
