Comedian Paul van Vliet does not want to be included on IC in case of contamination NOW

Comedian Paul van Vliet does not want to be admitted to intensive care if he becomes infected with the coronavirus. In the AD he says he would rather say goodbye before then.

The 84-year-old comedian and writer is said to be shocked by the images he saw from Italy. “In any case, I do not want to go to IC. Then I will say goodbye to that, I have had a good life. My euthanasia statement is ready, which will then be accelerated.”

Van Vliet says he currently has no complaints. “I am still physically healthy. At first I was indifferent, then the shock came and now I rest in it.”

The comedian tells that his children are concerned about the situation. “They do the shopping for us, put it at the bottom of the stairs, we stay upstairs and then there are dialogues. I already thought to write them down, ‘dialogues on the stairs’.”

Van Vliet officially retired from the theater in 2018 after a career of sixty years, but returned early this year with his own performance. Van Vliet is known for characters like Major Kees and Bram from the Commune. He made countless performances and released dozens of albums.

The coronavirus in short

  • The coronavirus mainly spreads from person to person via sneezing and cough drops. The chance of becoming infected through surfaces such as door handles is small. This chance decreases if you wash your hands often.
  • You can considerably reduce the chance of spreading by keeping at least 1.5 meters away from others.
  • The corona measures have resulted in an infected person infecting less than one other person on average. Previously, this so-called reproduction number was between two and three.
  • The vast majority of patients have mild (flu-like) complaints.
  • Almost all deaths involve the elderly or other vulnerable persons, such as heart, lung or diabetes patients. If everyone complies with the measures, this reduces their risks.
