In recent years, mobile banking has become more popular, since many movements for which you had to go to the bank are now in the palm of your hand, all from an application that you can manage on your computer or from your cell phone. But, just as there has been a boom in using your device to carry out operations, the number of frauds to obtain data and passwords to misuse them is also on the rise. And no matter what bank you have your savings account or credit card with, cyber scams can happen.
For example, the National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (Condusef) has issued a warning to beware of criminals, who are sending fraudulent advertisements saying that the “Federal Government endorses the gift of a bonus by certain banks. The Condusef warns that it is a hoax and asks users not to fall for scams such as Phishing, where information such as passwords and users are stolen with a supposed prize.

Confusef warns you about identity theft
These frauds are focused on obtaining personal information from users and then misusing it, here are some recommendations from the Condusef:
- Avoid that your passwords are related to personal data, such as dates of birth, names, telephone numbers or close relatives. Instead, use random combinations of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and digits.
- Learn to eliminate documents, if you are going to throw away papers that have personal or financial information, from your credit or debit cards, destroy them completely so that they cannot be used if someone finds them.
- Keep your documents, whether personal or your credits and cards, in a safe place that is out of reach of other strangers.
- Filter your email, delete messages of suspicious origin to avoid falling into viruses that can affect your devices and make you vulnerable to hackers.
- Use of passwords, never send the key of your bank cards or the PIN for any reason, either by mail or message.
- Use your personal computer, when you go to enter your bank accounts and never one for public use so that there is no chance that your information is recorded on that device.
