While the Haute Autorité de Santé now recommends vaccination for fragile children aged 5 to 11, this Tuesday, the health situation is deteriorating in Brittany, according to the Regional Health Agency. This Tuesday, November 30, she is holding a press conference dedicated to the fight against the 5th wave of the Covid-19 epidemic in the region. “The epidemiological data communicated by the regional unit of Public Health France confirm continued degradation the health situation “, informed the ARS on Monday, in a letter addressed to the regional prefect.
The incidence rate of Covid-19 infections now reaches 203.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, against 33.7 on October 22, 2021. The ARS also warns that the positivity rate (rate of positive cases identified per 100 tests) is increasing, to stand at 5.4%, against only 1.3% in October 22. The department of Ille-et-Vilaine is the most affected by this increase, since its incidence rate is 249.8 per 100,000 inhabitants (and a positivity rate of 5.2%). On October 22 these figures were 45.7 and 1.6% respectively.
In Brittany, 335 patients are hospitalized, including 47 in intensive care. Nearly half of these patients are hospitalized in Ille-et-Vilaine, namely 151 including 20 in intensive care. As a reminder, around 400 people were hospitalized during the peak of the 4th wave, 900 during the second. 2 million Bretons will have to take their booster dose of an anti-Covid vaccine by mid-March, recalls the Regional Health Agency. To do this, it will “increase the number of injections” to 170,000 per week.
