Corona: RKI reports 3943 new infections

IIn Germany, 3943 new corona infections were reported within one day. As the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced this Tuesday morning, citing information from the health authorities, the so-called seven-day incidence fell slightly to 65.4. On Monday this value was 65.8.

According to the information, 358 further deaths in connection with a corona infection were reported within 24 hours. This increased the number of corona deaths registered in Germany since the beginning of the pandemic to 70,463.

The total number of corona infections recorded in Germany since the beginning of the pandemic rose to 2,451,011. The RKI put the number of people recovered from a corona infection at around 2.264 million.

Seven-day incidence continues over 60

The seven-day incidence has hovered around the 60 mark for days. The value is the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within this period.

The incidence is an essential yardstick for the imposition or relaxation of corona restrictions. The goal of the federal and state governments is currently to push the value below 35.

On Wednesday, Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the Prime Ministers will discuss how to proceed in the corona pandemic.
