Hawaii is planning to relax the corona measures for travelers – the number of visitors is to be tripled by autumn 2021.
Like so many vacation destinations, Hawaii is now working to restart the travel industry. The archipelago wants to take a similar path that others are already taking: In order to allow some easing for tourists, the government is now planning to introduce a system with which Corona-vaccinated people travel to and within Hawaii can – and that without quarantine.
Hawaii vacation for tourists soon possible with corona vaccination certificate?
The new program could be the online portal Hawaii News Now according to March 1st and start with those who are already fully vaccinated. Systemically important workers in particular will be able to benefit from this initially, followed by the general population. “We hope that on April 1st, all citizens of our state who have been vaccinated plus two weeks can fly between the islands,” said Lieutenant Governor Josh Green, according to the portal. The vaccinated visitors receive one electronic codewith which you can travel between the islands. Starting May 1, Green hopes the program could include travel to the mainland as well.
The digital vaccination certificate should soon stimulate international travel again. “In this way we can restore our economy quickly,” said Green. “We would probably see a huge surge in visitor numbers by autumn.” The schedule stipulates that the number is on daily visitors will triple by autumn – up to 22,000 tourists are expected per day.

To date, more than 260,000 vaccine doses have been given in Hawaii, according to Hawaii News Now Farther. By the time the program starts, Green estimates that more than 400,000 residents could be fully vaccinated. The Hawaiian archipelago has a total of almost 1.4 million inhabitants. (fk)
