A total of 2,255 Covid-19 patients are currently hospitalized in Belgium, including 381 in intensive care, according to the Sunday morning update of the provisional figures communicated by the Sciensano Public Health Institute. The average number of new daily contaminations, calculated between October 8 and 14, continues to increase and now stands at 7,388.1 (+ 88%). Between October 11 and 17, hospitalizations therefore continued to increase, with an average of 233.9 daily admissions (+ 96%). There are therefore now 2,255 patients hospitalized for Covid-19 in Belgian hospitals, of which 381 are in intensive care.
Between October 8 and October 14, the virus killed more than 28 people (+13) on average per day.
Since the start of the epidemic in Belgium, 213,115 people have tested positive for Covid-19 and 10,392 have died.
The test positivity rate, i.e. the proportion of positive people out of all those tested, has now reached 14.2% nationally.
