Coronavirus in Mexico as of March 5: 6,797 new infections and 712 deaths from COVID-19 were registered

The Ministry of Health (In) reported that until this Friday, March 5, they have registered 2,119,305 accumulated contagion cases coronavirus (COVID-19). In addition, since the beginning of the epidemic, Mexico has suffered 189,578 deaths from the disease.

The above represents that there was an increase of 6,797 infected in the last 24 hours, as well as 712 deaths. Also, there are 1,660,786 people recovered, 189,578 negative cases and a total of 5,583,199 people studied from the first case.

The Dr. Ruy López Ridaura, general director of the Center for Preventive Programs and Disease Control, detailed from the National Palace that to date there are estimates in the country 47,224 active cases of the illness; that is, patients who began to present symptoms in the last 14 days (February 20 to March 5, 2021).

The entities with greater number of active cases of SARS-CoV-2 in descending order are: Mexico City, State of Mexico, Querétaro, Guanajuato, Puebla, Nuevo León, Jalisco, Morelos and Tabasco, which together concentrate the 76% of such cases in the country.

Refering to hospital occupancy and availability At the national level, it was reported that the IRAG Network reported that there are 32,110 general beds, of which 9,100 (28%) are already occupied and 23,010 (72%) available. In this area, the Mexico City remains the entity with the highest percentage of beds that are being used, with 52 percent.

While of the 11,474 Beds with fans, 3,603 (31%) are busy and 7,871 (69%) available. Here also the Mexico City appears as the state with the highest occupancy rate, with 58 percent.

The overall fatality rate is at 2.2%, and the active pandemic concentrates again on the European continent with 178,102 cases, or 41.8 percent.

Currently, Mexico is the third country in the world with the most deaths because of the coronavirus, only below the United States and Brazil; furthermore, it is number 13 in number of contagions, according the latest update from Johns Hopkins University.

Regarding the day of the National Vaccination Strategy against the SARS-CoV-2, it was announced that so far 2,731,900 doses have been applied, of the 4,691,775 that have been received: Pfizer-BioNTech (2621,775), AstraZeneca (870,000), SinoVac (1,000,000) and Sputnik V (200,000). In addition, in last 24 hours were supplied 24,859 vaccines.

The three priority sectors who have had access to the biological are:

Medical staff, of which 585,705 already received the full scheme (both doses).

Educational staff, of which 17,429 they already have the complete schematic.

Older adults, in which 1,319,897 they have already received the complete schematic.
