Coronavirus in Switzerland: Task Force experts consider small confinement

A generalized and eight-week closure of restaurants, bars and museums could be ordered if the number of new cases does not drop significantly over the next two weeks.

Opinions within the Task Force are divergent regarding a possible small lockdown but for President Martin Ackermann such closures remain an option.

The Confederation’s Covid-19 Task Force is preparing in case the latest measures announced are not sufficient and the number of new cases does not decrease significantly over the next two weeks, reports the “SonntagsZeitung”.

According to the newspaper’s information, experts believe that, in this case, it would be wise to immediately close restaurants, bars and museums for eight weeks, as well as to cancel concerts. In addition, private meetings should be limited to two households. Switzerland would then be in a small confinement.

The newspaper reports that opinions within the Task Force are divergent but that for President Martin Ackermann such closures remain an option.
