José Luis Alomía Zegarra, general director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health, reported that on the first day of “New normal” in the epidemic by Covid-19 In Mexico, the country reached 10,167 deaths and 93,435 infections due to the virus.

In the last 24 hours, 2,771 cases of coronavirus were confirmed, and 851 deaths remain as suspects, as well as 38,497 infections. Of the total confirmed cases, 16 thousand 303 remain active.

So far, the incidence of confirmed cases per 100,000 inhabitants is 73.1, and for this new stage of containment of the coronavirus, the states of Sinaloa and Puebla joined the spike in infections.

In addition, Mexico City and Tabasco concentrate the greatest activity of the epidemic, with an incidence of 44 and 33 active cases, respectively, for every 100,000 inhabitants. Oaxaca, Guerrero, Colima and Querétaro decreased their number of active cases.

Of the treatment beds of Serious Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI) 12 thousand 475 remain available, of the 21 thousand 902 that were destined to the beginning of the epidemic. Alomía Zegarra explained that 143 care centers have been added so far in the emergency.

Diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity and smoking remain the highest risk for patients infected with Covid-19 to present serious consequences of the disease.

Alomía Zegarra indicated that 74% of the total deaths have been from people who have one or more chronic diseases and only 26% who have not presented any of these, but age is also included in this category.

He assured that between week 21 and 22 of the epidemic there has been a decrease in active cases among the hospitalized and intubated population by Covid-19.
