(ANSA) – ROME, AUG 01 – Madrid is the largest European city that has had the highest number of coronavirus deaths. This was revealed by a study by the British statistics office (Ons), reported by the Spanish media. The most dramatic week for the capital of Spain was on March 27 when four times more people than the European average died due to Covid-19.
The study compared the death toll in the first few months of 2020 with those in the 2015-2019 period. In Spain the second city most affected by the pandemic is Barcelona, while in the rest of Europe they are Birmingham (+ 249.7%) and London (226.7%).
