At least 629,109 cases of Covid-19 have been diagnosed in Belgium since the start of the epidemic.
Du December 16 to 22, 182.1 new hospitalizations due to Covid-19 were recorded on average, the same number as recorded on Tuesday, after a period of uncertain stabilization. There are still 2,560 people staying in hospitals, including 539 in intensive care, according to provisional results presented on Wednesday by the Sciensano Public Health Institute.
The average number of daily Sars-Cov-2 infections continues to increase, with 2,523.1 new daily cases over the period from December 13 to 19 (+ 7% compared to the previous calculation period). At least 629,109 cases of Covid-19 have been diagnosed in Belgium since the start of the epidemic.
Over the same period, an average of 91 people (-2.9%) have died from the coronavirus, for a total of 18,821 since March.
Nearly 38,500 tests were also performed, with a positivity rate of 7.6%.
The incidence from December 6 to 19 stands at 297.9 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants (+ 9%), while the reproduction rate is 0.99.
