Coronavirus: USA, after Texas restrictions also in Florida – Last Hour

(ANSA) – ROME, JUNE 28 – After Texas, due to the increase in coronavirus cases (over 2.5 million in the United States, with more than 125,000 deaths), Florida also returns to impose restrictions, after having basically all activities reopened a few weeks ago. The American media report it.

The two states are among those in which the epidemic has returned to spread more rapidly.

On Saturday, Florida recorded over 9,500 new cases, and the increase had been 9,000 the day before. The state total exceeds 132,000. Over 3,300 people affected by Covid-19 have died.

The governor of Florida Ron DeSantis has therefore imposed restrictions, however quite mild: bars will not be able to serve alcohol inside the premises but only for takeaway (but it is not clear if the measure also concerns restaurants), according to what Miami wrote Herald. Miami Mayor Francis Suarez said that “the numbers are very high” and that “the city health system is suffering greatly”. “We impose fines on anyone who turns around without a mask – he said – but at some point we could force them to stay at home”.

In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott closed the bars and ordered restaurants to cut seats by 50%. The situation is particularly serious in Galena Park, a town east of Houston, where the mayor has imposed a curfew, warning that local hospitals will soon no longer be able to manage the high number of patients.
