This geological fault regularly causes earthquakes of varying magnitudes in this region of the United States. The film carried by Dwayne Johnson imagine the terrible consequences if the estimated magnitude were to rise above 9, which has never been the case in this region.
The film San Andreas is inspired not only by probable geological events, but also by an actual event. On April 18, 1906, San Francisco was hit by a devastating earthquake linked to this fault. With a magnitude of 7.8, it caused deadly fires. Nearly 3,000 people died. It was this real event that inspired the screenwriters of the film. Theoretically, the San Andreas fault could lead to new earthquakes, even if, from a historical point of view, few earthquakes recorded a magnitude as large (9 and more) as that depicted in the feature film. The most recent is the earthquake of March 11, 2011, in Japan.

Synopsis – Announced for a very long time, the San Andreas Fault eventually became gaping, causing a monstrous earthquake in California. Accompanied by his wife with whom he is in the process of divorcing, Tom, a helicopter pilot, professional rescuer, undertakes a dangerous journey across the state. Both try to find and save their daughter, whom Tom has never been close to.
This 3D disaster film is directed by Brad Peyton, to whom we owe films such as “Invasion” in 2012. He is also the director of episodes of the TV series “Republic of Doyle”. In the cast, Dwayne Johnson, seen in “Hercules” in 2014 and who is showing, in 2015, “Fast & Furious 7” and Alexandra Daddario, who played in the TV series, “True Detective”. Australian singer, Kylie Minogue also makes an appearance. Note that Dwayne Johnson finds with this film, the director of “Journey to the Center of the Earth 2. The Mysterious Island” of which he was the star.
