Covd-19: more than 16,000 new positive cases in France

The number of confirmed cases in 24 hours is increasing again. According to the latest figures released by the government Thursday, September 24, 16,096 positive cases were identified in one day. In addition, 52 new deaths are to be deplored, 6,031 people are hospitalized for a Covid-19 infection (this is 99 more compared to the day before) and 1,048 patients are in intensive care (124 new patients in more 24 hours). The incidence rate is 87.52 and the positivity rate for RT-PCR tests is 5.93%.

The day before, Wednesday September 23, Public Health France reported 13,072 new cases in 24 hours, a positivity rate of 6.2%, 43 new deaths. Almost all of the departments (101) are now placed in a situation of moderate or high vulnerability by Public Health France.

New restrictions

Faced with the deterioration of the health situation, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran announced on Wednesday September 23 new restrictions in eleven metropolitan areas (Paris, Lyon, Toulouse, Lille, etc.) classified as enhanced alert zones, where bars will have to especially closing at 10 p.m. at the latest and where gatherings will be even more restricted.
