Rabat – A total of 1,246 new cases of coronavirus infection and 940 recoveries have been recorded in the past 24 hours in Morocco, the health ministry said on Tuesday.
The new toll brings to 461,390 the total number of contaminations since the first case reported last March, and to 436,626 that of fully recovered people, i.e. a cure rate of 94.6%, the ministry said in its daily bulletin on the Covid-19 situation.
The total number of deaths rose to 8,011, with 34 new cases recorded in 24 hours, a case fatality rate of 1.7%, added the same source.
These deaths were recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (13), Oriental (5), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (3), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (3), Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (2), Souss-Massa (2), Fès-Meknes (2), Marrakech-Safi (2), Draâ-Tafilalet (1) and Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (1).
The new cases were detected in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (544), Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (262), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (114), l’Oriental (79), Souss-Massa (70), Marrakech-Safi (61), Fès-Meknès (33), Drâa-Tafilalet (33), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (20), Guelmim-Oued Noun (12), Beni Mellal-Khénifra (12) and and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (6).
The number of active cases stands at 16,753, while the severe or critical cases number 865, including 63 placed under intubation, the ministry said, adding that the occupancy rate of the Covid-19 resuscitation beds is 27.4%.
