First the virus, then the blood sugar disease: Covid-19 promotes diabetes
After a corona infection, the risk of type 2 diabetes increases. Not only the virus could be to blame for the current increase in cases, but the connection cannot be dismissed out of hand.
First the virus, then the blood sugar disease: According to one current German study the risk of type 2 diabetes increases following a Covid-19 infection. One of the study authors, Wolfgang Rathmann, suspects that more sugar remains in the blood because of Covid-19. Rathmann is deputy director of the Institute for Biometry and Epidemiology at the Diabetes Center in Düsseldorf.
