The end of the amateur championships since October 29 for a period of at least one month because of the health crisis prompted the French Football Federation on Tuesday to modify its calendar for the 2020-2021 French Cup. The national body has, in fact, decided to postpone the holding of the 8th round and the 32nd finals.
The 8th round was scheduled for Sunday, December 13, 2020, with the entry into the running of the twenty Ligue 2 clubs and the 5 overseas clubs (Guyana, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Réunion, Mayotte). The 32nd of finals were to be played on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 January 2021 with the entry into the running of the twenty representatives of Ligue 1.
However, at the moment, the Coupe de France is only at the stage of the 6th round (scheduled for October 30 and November 1) with a few more games late from the previous round such as Le Mée (R1) – Red Star ( National). The 7th round, scheduled for the weekend of November 21 and 22, is also postponed.
The FFF is therefore currently working with the regional leagues for the reprogramming in January of the 6th, 7th rounds and with the Professional Football League (LFP) for the reprogramming of the rounds involving the participation of clubs from Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. No simple with an already very busy schedule and the prospect of the Euro which will start on June 11, 2021.
