COVID-19: twelve new cases in Bas-Saint-Laurent

In its report of November 19, the CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent reports an increase of twelve cases of COVID-19 on its territory.

The new cases were identified in the MRC de la Matanie, the MRC de Rimouski-Neigette, the MRC des Basques and the MRC du Témiscouata. A case which was yesterday “undetermined” was also added to the statistics of one of these territories.

No COVID-19 patient is currently hospitalized, a drop of two from the previous day. A total of 528 people are currently considered recovered and 678 screening tests were performed the day before.

Since the start of the pandemic, 638 positive cases of COVID-19 have been declared in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region and 13 people have unfortunately lost their lives. Currently, according to available data, 97 active cases have been identified in the territory.

At Résidence les Bâtisseurs in Matane, three new residents tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total to 89 positive cases, including 66 residents, 20 workers and 3 caregivers. Four people with the virus have died.

A new increase in cases (+7) was also noted at the Résidence des Sages de Matane. There, the toll is 24 cases, including 15 residents and 9 workers. We also deplore two deaths.

The situation is stable at the Rimouski GMF-U, which still has three cases.


The most recent data on the evolution of COVID-19 in Quebec show 1,207 new cases, for a total number of infected people of 128,440. They also report 34 new deaths, for a total of deaths which stands at 6,744. Of these 34 deaths, 7 occurred in the last 24 hours, 19 occurred between 12 and 17 November, 5 occurred before 12 November and 3 occurred on an unknown date.

The number of hospitalizations decreased by 1 compared to the previous day, with a cumulative 651. Among these, the number of people in intensive care increased by 1, and now stands at 101. Samples realized on November 17 amounted to 31,935, for a total of 3,586,364.
