Covid disease spreads; Melbourne extends lockdown again

Melbourne | The lockdown has been extended again in Melbourne, Australia’s largest city. The lockdown was again extended because of the inability to prevent infection due to the Kovid Delta variant. The lockdown order was issued again on Saturday.

Lockdown restrictions have been re-imposed on 7 million people in Melbourne and Victoria. The lockdown has been extended again as the four-week-old lockdown prepares to be lifted. State Premier Dan Andrews said the lockdown restrictions could not be lifted in the event that Kovid figures in the area rose to 92 overnight.

Covid cases began to rise in Australia in mid-June. Since then, more than 15,000 people have been diagnosed with the disease. Outbreaks appear to be exacerbated in New Zealand due to the Covid Delta variety. New Zealand’s plan to eliminate even one Kovid patient was thwarted.
