Covid in China: “the situation is quite dramatic and out of control” in hospitals

A growing number of countries have decided to impose controls on passengers arriving from China, where the lifting of health restrictions is leading to an explosion in Covid-19 cases. According to Yves Coppieters, epidemiologist and professor of public health at the Free University of Brussels, the situation is “out of control” in hospitals, where the population has no immune coverage and is not vaccinated enough. However, possible new variants should not be problematic for European countries, which have developed herd immunity.
