Craziness! Bielsa emerged as a candidate to assume Uruguay after elimination in the World Cup

The Argentinian Marcelo Bielsa, former coach of the Chilean national team, emerged strongly as a candidate to take office in Uruguaywhich was eliminated this Friday in the group phase of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

As reported TyC Sports, Diego Alonso ended his contract, its continuity is in doubt, and within that framework the leaders of the Uruguayan association (AUF) thought of Bielsa as a candidate.

Bielsa is currently without a team and has not managed since leaving Leeds United last Februarythough His last experience at the national team level was with La Roja, where he led a revolution between 2007 and early 2011, participating in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

After spending time in Chile, Bielsa trained at Athletic Bilbao, Olympique de Marseille, Lille (only 13 games) and Leeds United, where he won the love of the English fans by winning promotion to the Premier League.

If Bielsa’s hiring in Uruguay is confirmed, It will be his third experience in selections, since he also led Argentina in a turbulent six-year process (1998-2004), where he generated expectations with a high performance in the Qualifiers, disappointed with the elimination in the first round of the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, and won the medal of Gold in Athens 2004.
