CSS requests advance of medicines for patients with arthritis

The Social Security Fund (CSS) reported that it is taking steps to purchase ampoules of the drug Tocilizumab, which is used as a treatment for patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

“To date, the manufacturing company has been asked for an advance of 900 vials of a total of 2,200 that are part of the purchase that is in process,” reported the administration of the CSS.

He explained that the 190 patients who use this drug would be consuming approximately 1,800 ampoules in a period of three months.

“The CSS has known that the pharmaceutical company could be facing a shortage of this drug because it has recently shown good results in the treatment of Covid-19 patients, which has increased global demand,” they add.
