The Cuban boxer Lazaro Alvarez defeated the Thai Chatchai-Decha Butdee in the featherweight quarterfinals (52-57 kg) of the Tokyo 2020 Games and assured his third Olympic medal in three different categories.

Alvarez, 30 years old, guaranteed the fourth medal of the Cuban boxing team in Tokyo 2020, where he remains unbeaten after 11 fights.

The boxer, who already had two bronzes bantamweight in 2012 and lightweight in 2016, imposed to Butdee for split decision (3-2) in the ring of the Kokugikan arena.
