Cubans keep trying to flee to the United States.

Now two people have done it again – with a hang glider.

The two flew for hours over the open sea until they landed safely in Key West.
Two Cuban migrants are using a motorized hang glider who flew around 145 kilometers from the communist-ruled island to Florida. The police said they landed safely at the airport at 10:30 a.m. local time on Saturday Key West at the extreme southeastern tip of the United States. The two were handed over to the US Border Protection Agency.
Eyewitnesses saw and filmed the approach of the glider. “I looked up because I heard the noise and saw them approach – where they shouldn’t be, namely in the approach path to Key West Airport,” Christopher Herrera told Local 10. Pilot Nock Pontecorvo had the aircraft out of the seen air. “It was pretty impressive. It takes a lot of courage to dare the 145-kilometer approach in this wind across the open sea.”
Large numbers of Cubans have recently attempted to cross to Florida by boat, while scores of migrants from Central American countries hope to cross the land border with Mexico into the United States. For some of them, including Cubans, since January there has been a new regulation, a kind of probation system, through which they can come to the United States for a limited time through a sponsor within the United States. But you have to apply online beforehand. Those who don’t do this can be deported again.
