This Wednesday, for the first time, they were going to be able to discover the Stekene Jumbo, an event expected by many people. Even if it is not the first in the region (it is the sixth in East Flanders, editor’s note), this new establishment will allow them to avoid having to travel several kilometers for their shopping.

“I am already a customer, but now I no longer need to go to Hulst to do my shopping”, explains for example a customer at the Nieuwsblad. “I’m a fan and I didn’t want to miss this moment. I know Jumbo for the extremely fresh range, the huge choice and also the price. Because every penny counts,” he adds. To thank the people who lined up this morning, Jumbo decided to offer coffee and a waffle.

If the lights are green for customers, all is not so far as many criticisms emerge. “Not only does the location of the store look a bit unfortunate, but the construction of the car park above all raises questions,” complains the Groen party. “We fear that the location of the department store on the traffic axis will create a suction effect from neighboring municipalities towards the center of our village. And this while three quarters of the inhabitants think that there are already too many people in the center. »
