Within the framework of a new day of protests and incidents in the vicinity of Plaza Italia, a cyclist was about to fall into the Mapocho River in the middle of a struggle with police officers.
The information quickly went viral on social networks, taking the man’s fall for granted, but Carabineros and several independent media outlets later clarified that this was not the case.
SHOCKING. During the demonstration for the prisoners of the revolt, En Dignidad, cops not only throw the cyclist to the ground, but also take him by his clothes, throwing him towards the river sector. ????kiltro_photograpy pic.twitter.com/REZeGcGpUX

“Given the circumstance of a video on social networks, in the context of disorders in the center of the capital, Carabineros clarifies in the first instance that the claims that a person fell into the Mapocho River are not true. These images are tendentious and do not show the whole reality”, declared the General Enrique Monrás, head of the Metropolitan Zone.
The officer added that “the circumstances behind this situation are now the subject of inquiries“.

The situation causes concern for his similarity to the case that occurred on the same Pío Nono Bridge in October 2020when a minor fell to the riverbed when he was attacked by police officer Sebastián Zamora, who is on trial.
