D1A: Anderlecht is surprised at the end of the match by Genk

At the end of a balanced match, the Mauves finally bowed at the end of the game.

Lhe Sporting of Anderlecht lost this Sunday in Genk by the score of 1-0 on the occasion of the 6th day of the championship. While the exchanges were balanced throughout the meeting, the goal fell at the end of the match from the feet of Ike Ugbo who had just entered the game. With this defeat, the Mauves remain 11th in the standings with 7 points. Genk passes 4th with 10 units.

In Genk, Kristian Thorstvedt took over from Mike Tresor and Ugbo, who was acquired from Chelsea, started off the bench. Vincent Kompany associated El Hadj with Lior Refaelov while Yari Verschaeren and Francis Amuzu started on the bench, as did newcomer Christian Kouamé. The two teams set the pace for the game and the people of Brussels could have pulled off a good shot straight away thanks to the speed of Benito Raman, whose shot went over (1st).

After their good start, Anderlecht fell back and Genk took possession of the ball. If the Limburgers had the match in hand, they were not effective (1 shot on target in the first period) like Junya Ito. After easily getting rid of Taylor Hardwood-Bellis, the Japanese sent the ball to the side as he came up against goal (17th). Anderlecht took this warning seriously and on an excellent serve from Refaelov, Raman failed to take the ball back (21st). Then, on a free kick from Sergio Gomez, Harwood-Bellis saw his shot crashing on the post (39th). Anderlecht had gained the upper hand but Jhon Lucumi appeared in extremis to prevent Raman from opening the scoring (45th).

Anderlecht had the best chances but did not target a single shot in the first half. To change the situation, Kompany launched Kouamé for Joshua Zirkzzee, little to his business. The Mauves were more present in the duels without taking the ascendancy. They even had a fright when Ito took Gomez speed and crossed for Paul Onuachu whose deflection was rejected by Harwood-Bellis (63rd). Anderlecht then replied by Kouamé. The Ivorian punctuated a climb with a perfect pass to Raman, who still has not sent the ball into the frame (64th). On the other hand, Harwood-Bellis was not varnished since after his post, he sent a missile on the transverse (77th).

Genk restarted the machine by raising Ugbo in place of Onuachu (82nd). This had direct repercussions and Hendrik Van Crombrugge had to intervene in front of Théo Bongonda (84th). But the Anderlecht goalkeeper could not prevent Ugbo from making a fanfare debut (87th, 1-0).
