Former President Danilo Medina will take to the streets starting tomorrow, to lead the program of reorganization acts carried out throughout the country by the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), as well as the swearing-in of thousands of new members who are entering the opposition organization.
Medina, who is president of the PLD, will begin this Sunday in San Cristóbal with the swearing in of 2,921 new members who will join the party in San Cristóbal.
The provincial activity of the PLD in the southern town is scheduled to take place at the Ciro Pérez Club field in the main municipality, at 10:00 in the morning.
“In the process of implementing the new organizational and electoral line, hundreds of thousands of Dominicans have expressed their interest in organizing in the PLD; to which the purple party of the yellow star opens its doors for their formal entry with a series of events, which begin this Sunday, October 17 in San Cristóbal, ”says the PLD Communications Secretariat in a press release.
He maintains that the former president will be accompanied at the meeting by the organization’s secretary general, Charles Mariotti.
It maintains that the decision to organize the swearing-in of new members of the PLD was adopted by the Political Committee upon receiving the reports from the provincial and district liaisons, that thousands of citizens throughout the country had been showing interest in joining as members to the PLD.
Other similar events Specifies that, in addition to former President Medina and Mariotti, the PLD leaders who make up the Commission for the Implementation of the Organizational and Electoral Line (CILOE), will be present at the event and the leaders of San Cristóbal.
“The operational team of the PLD, together with the Provincial Committee of San Cristóbal, are preparing the stage for the development of the internal PLD act from this Friday,” says the press release.
He also announced that from this meeting in the following weeks they will be organizing similar events, “which formalizes the entry into the PLD of thousands of citizens interested in political militancy in the organization that from the Government promoted growth and progress of the country at the economic and institutional level ”.
Since the PLD was defeated in the presidential, legislative and municipal elections last year, former President Medina had had a discreet public participation, limited to the work of the IX Ordinary Congress José Joaquín Bidó Medina, which began at the end of 2020 and ended at early this year.
The ex-president also headed several meetings of the political committee, but in none of the cases has he exposed himself to answer questions from journalists about the main problems of the country and the PLD.
Since the end of 2020, numerous officials of his government have been jailed, including the former Attorney General of the Republic Jean Alain Rodríguez, accused of administrative corruption.
Two of his brothers were also held in preventive detention and the Attorney General’s Office has been seized of other files related to alleged embezzlement during his government (2012-2020).
