David Dehenauw predicts stormy showers which were not announced in Belgium: “They are coming tonight”

The IRM had only announced “showers” for this Friday evening. But on Twitter, David Dehenauw provided some details since these showers will be very stormy. “The cloudiness will be variable to abundant with gradual (thundery) showers from the coast arriving tonight in the east and southeast, 21-25 degrees,” he wrote.

Today’s weather

The weather will quickly become very cloudy over the western half of the country on Friday morning, while the east will still keep sunny spells, according to forecasts from the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM). A disturbance accompanied by showers will reach the coastal region in the morning and then move slowly towards the east of the country.

In the afternoon especially, the precipitation may become more intense and there will also be a possibility of a thunderclap. From the west, the weather will become drier with sunny spells. Maximum temperatures will be between 21ºC in the Ardennes and 25ºC in Lower Belgium. The light southwesterly wind will change to west-southwest and become moderate. At sea, the wind could become moderate to quite strong in the afternoon.

This evening, the IRM forecasts a few more showers over the east and north-east of the country.

The weekend weather

On Saturday, the day will start under the sun in most areas, then the clouds will become more numerous as the hours go by, but the weather will remain dry. The maxima will vary around 19 or 20ºC on the high plateaus of the Ardennes, 22ºC along the beaches and 23 or 24ºC in the center of the country. The wind will be moderate from the west.

Sunday, a not very active front will cross the country with sometimes a little rain or a light shower, mainly in the northwest. Drier weather with some sunny spells will follow in the late afternoon. The maximum will be between 19ºC in the Hautes Fagnes and 23ºC in the center of the country.
