A fatal face-to-face between a car and a tanker truck took place Monday morning on Highway 50, near Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, in the Laurentians.
The driver of the automobile, a 38 year old man from Lachute, is dead.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) was called to the scene of the incident around 9 a.m., at kilometer 242 of the road. In contact with the truck, the driver of the sedan, alone on board, was ejected and his death was pronounced on the spot, confirmed the SQ in the afternoon.
The individual behind the wheel of the tanker sustained minor injuries and was sent to the nearest medical center. Note that no gas leak in the tank was found by SQ agents.
The circumstances of the collision remain to be established and the authorities have carried out a complete closure of the road between kilometers 239 and 252 for an indefinite period.
A bypass was thus suggested between Chemin Scotch and Montée Labranche.
