Deals made with domestic vaccine producers

National agreements between Germany and the domestic vaccine producers Biontech and Curevac raise questions in other EU countries. The chief negotiator of the EU said at a hearing that she was not aware of any such purchase agreements. Nevertheless, Brussels demands information from Berlin.

The EU countries agreed in the summer to proceed together when purchasing vaccines. This should prevent the countries from being played off against each other and having to pay higher prices.
