The government of the United Kingdom (UK), i.e. one of the four states of the United Kingdom, has decided to introduce a law ahead of the new elections under which MPs can be suspended for making deliberately misleading statements.
MacAntonio, the Consul-General of the Welsh Government, told Snead (Parliament) that if a politician was found guilty of making misleading statements, his membership of the House would be suspended under the Act.
He said that the Welsh Government and all other members of Parliament are committed to this legislation.

He added, ‘We have now received an assurance from the government that our democracy will be the first in the world to enact a general law once morest deliberate lying by politicians.’
Price said the erosion of trust in politics poses a real threat to democracies around the world. “Democracy begins to crumble the day the electorate ceases to trust their elected representatives.”
