Did you know? Asteroid 7482 will pass Earth in mid-Jan.

NASA has revealed that an asteroid twice the size of the Empire State Building will approach Earth on Jan. 18, 2022 at about 4:51 p.m., at a distance of about 1.2 million miles.

According to NASA, the asteroid 7482 (or 1994 PC1), first discovered in 1994, measures 3,280 feet in diameter, and will pass Earth at 43,000 miles per hour. but not a threat to the world because it is 5 times further from the Earth than the Moon.

NASA regularly monitors more than 28,000 known asteroids, with asteroids more than 10 times larger than the next closer to Earth. It is predicted to happen in 2105.

And did you know?

Asteroid 7482 (1994 PC1) is an S-type asteroid composed mainly of silica, iron and magnesium. It is the most common form of asteroid after the C-type.
