Disappeared in mountainous region: Plane missing in Nepal

In Nepal, a search is being carried out for a small passenger plane with which contact was lost shortly after take-off. The plane took off from the city of Pokhara, which is popular with tourists. Two Germans are said to have been on board.

A plane with 22 people on board has disappeared in Nepal. According to the authorities, there should also be two Germans among the passengers. The Tara Airlines twin-engine plane was en route from the tourist town of Pokhara to Jomson. The flight should only last 15 minutes. Contact with the cockpit was lost shortly after takeoff, the police said. A search had been started.

According to the airline, six people from abroad were on board – in addition to the two Germans, four people from India.

Nepal is characterized by the highest mountains in the world. In the past there have always been plane crashes – among other things due to rapidly changing weather and runways in difficult terrain.
