And it announced in a statement, that “on 21:03, after the earthquake that the Lebanese felt, false news was circulated warning citizens of the danger of a devastating earthquake and inviting them to go out into open spaces.”
And the statement continued: “The General Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Defense – the Committee for Coordinating Operations for Facing Disasters and National Crises is concerned with denying these circulating rumors, and clarifies that the information circulated is untrue, and calls on citizens not to take it into account and to view information from its official and reliable sources: the National Operations Room for Disaster Management Crises and the National Council for Scientific Research – National Center for Geophysics.
