Monkeypox in Barranquilla: District confirms first case
The Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla, through the Health Secretary, confirms the first case in the Atlantic capital of the disease known as monkeypox in Barranquilla, which occurred in a 28-year-old male patient.
The affected person is in isolation and under monitoring by the health authorities in order to stop possible new infections by determining early diagnoses, for this, the epidemiological fence with relatives and people in close contact.
The case is reported thanks to the intensified surveillance actions in the city from the first moment the Ministry of Health and Social Protection e National Institute of Health, they presented the circular 0033 of 2022, for the preparation and containment of the disease.
Since last July 25, the district secretary of Health issued the External Circular No. 020 of 2022, addressed to entities promoting health benefit plans (EPS), institutions providing health services-IPS, port and airport operators and other authorities.
