“It’s always challenging because… The early part of our career, we worked with johnny K, who did the first three albums with us. He’s a hometown friend, out of Chicago. I knew him growing up, being a local guy, doing the demos for bands locally. And then we kind of self-produced throughout the years. Then we went to Kevin Churko in Las Vegas, who’s done FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and IN THIS MOMENT — a lot of great bands — out of Vegas.so, at this point, we just felt like we needed new life, we needed another person in there. Dan Donegan: Thanks for having me, Jimmy. Well, “I Will Not Break” is a powerful anthem that captures the resilience and determination we’ve all felt in the face of adversity. It’s got that signature DISTURBED intensity, but also a dose of hope that I think everyone can connect with. We’re really excited to get it out there.

Dan Donegan: Yeah, working with Drew was a game-changer. we’d been self-producing for a while, and while it’s been successful, we felt our sound needed a fresh perspective. Drew challenged us, pushed us outside our comfort zones, and brought in ideas we might not have thought of ourselves. He played a huge role in shaping ‘Divisive’s sound, especially in balancing those heavier elements with melodic and catchy aspects.
Jimmy Pickering, Archyde: That balance definitely paid off, as ‘divisive’ was a critical and commercial success. Looking back, is there any one moment or track that stands out as a turning point in the album’s creation?
dan Donegan:Honestly, it was the collective energy in the room during the recording process. We were all on the same page, hungry, and scrappy – like we had something to prove. ” giáolemworkx” was one of those tracks that clicked instantly; it felt like the perfect blend of heaviness and melody. It was a real confidence booster and set the tone for the rest of the album.
Jimmy Pickering, Archyde: As a band that’s constantly evolving, where do you see DISTURBED heading next, both sonically and lyrically?
Dan Donegan: Great question, Jimmy. I think ‘Divisive’ proved we’re still able to grow and reinvent ourselves.we want to keep exploring new territories while staying true to our roots. Lyrically, we’ll continue tackling real-world issues and personal struggles, because that’s what resonates with our fans. As for the sound, we’re always open to incorporating different elements, running the gamut from heavy to melancholic to uplifting.
Jimmy Pickering, Archyde: Lastly, Dan, if there’s one message you want fans to take away from “I Will Not Break” and ‘Divisive’, what would it be?
