The Prime Minister’s close adviser, Dominic Cummings, is said to have violated lockdown rules despite having symptoms of Covid-19. Other advisors in the UK had to take their hat off to such violations.

Dhe chief adviser to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Dominic Cummings, is said to have violated exit restrictions in the country, media reports. The “Guardian” and the “Daily Mirror” reported on Friday evening. Cummings is said to have traveled to London from his parents in London at the end of March in Durham, about 430 kilometers away – at a time when he himself had symptoms of Covid-19.

Just about a week earlier, the government had put strict restrictions on freedom of movement to curb the coronavirus pandemic. Except for urgent reasons, traveling was not allowed. Those with symptoms must also spend seven days in self-isolation.

Cummings was reportedly seen by a local resident in Durham and reported to the police. According to the “Guardian”, the police confirmed that they had received a corresponding report on March 31, but did not give a name. Officials addressed the owners of the address in question and were reminded of the exit restrictions and self-isolation rules. As the BBC reporter Laura Kuenssberg from the Cummings area wants to know, the government adviser and his wife and young son stayed in a separate building in his parents’ yard for self-isolation.

A government spokesman initially did not want to comment on the reports at the request of the German Press Agency. The opposition Labor party called for a “very quick explanation”. If the reports are confirmed, there should be calls for Cumming’s resignation. The topic is particularly explosive because British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was infected with the corona virus and had to be hospitalized in early April. Johnson was represented at the top of the government by Secretary of State Dominic Raab for several days.

At the beginning of May, the renowned Imperial College scientist Neil Ferguson had to resign as a government adviser because he received a visit from his girlfriend during the lockdown. The Scottish government’s chief medical advisor, Catherine Calderwood, had broken her own rules and taken her hat off.
