Former US President Donald Trump has denounced “prosecutorial misconduct”. He dished out neatly to investigators who brought charges against his company.
In a campaign-like speech in front of thousands of supporters, former US President Donald Trump launched an all-out attack on political rivals and the New York judiciary. “They have mobilized every government force to persecute me, my family, my wonderful employees and my company — all for political reasons,” the Republican said Saturday before the crowd attending the open-air event in Sarasota, Florida came.
The Republican sharply criticized the Manhattan Attorney’s Office, which recently brought charges against the Trump Organization and its chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, for tax fraud. “That’s actually called prosecutorial misconduct. It’s a horrible, horrible thing.”
American Independence Day celebration
The speech was staged as a celebration of US Independence Day on July 4th with fireworks. Trump accused his successor Joe Biden of failings in immigration policy and the fight against crime and once again repeated the false claim that he lost the 2020 presidential election because of fraud against the Democrats. He urged his supporters to support his allies in the November 2022 congressional elections to wrest from the Democrats their current control of both houses of parliament.
The Trump Organization, which manages luxury real estate, hotels and golf resorts, among other things, and Trump’s longtime financial adviser Weisselberg had rejected the allegations by the Manhattan District Attorney on Thursday and pleaded not guilty.
After investigating the Trump Organization’s business practices, prosecutors have concluded that they are dealing with “widespread and brazen” tax fraud. Trump himself has not been charged. However, the outcome could have significance for the question of whether Trump will run again in the 2024 presidential election.
