Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown had been announced in 2020 and was scheduled for 2022… In the end, nothing will happen. The developers have just announced a big change of plan, including for the consoles concerned.

The air of nothing, the Test Drive franchise begins to rise seriously: its very first opus dates from 1987, a founding episode which gave rise to numerous sequels on many platforms. It was with the Unlimited arc that the saga got a second wind: alas, the last episode dates back to 2011 all the same… and we had to be patient to have news of a sequel.
This is therefore called Solar Crown and it was announced in 2020: it was scheduled for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch for September 22, 2022. The plans were therefore fixed, except that… KT Racing reconsidered some of its decisions. It is in a post on Steam that we learn that the title is postponed to 2023, without further details. And above all, some consoles have gone by the wayside.
The new favored machines
Bad news if you were planning to play the title on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch: Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown won’t come out on it. We imagine then that the designers simply want to take advantage of the power of the PC, the PS5 and the Xbox Series to fully design their ambitions, without being restrained by other platforms.
As a reminderthe concept of the game is quite ambitious since it takes place in Honk Kong Island, recreated a priori on a 1:1 scale with more than 550 kilometers of road. The social aspect of the driver will also be very important with many activities outside the car and multiplayer, as is the tradition of Test Drive Unlimited: closed betas are precisely planned to test all this fuss before the release.
