Driving licenses will be valid in Argentina and Portugal – Government – Politics

According to the Vice Minister of Transportation, Eduardo Enríquez Maya, this benefit will be valid for tourists and short-term visitors.

“The objective of this validation is to strengthen international relations, promote the cooperation of the parties in terms of traffic and road safety, as well as continue with the task of digitizing procedures, for which Colombia signed an agreement with Portugal and Argentina for the reciprocal recognition of driving licences,” the official explained.

Under this consensus, Portuguese and Argentine citizens will be able to homologate the document in Colombia, and in the same way, compatriots who are in Portugal and Argentina.

Regarding the rapprochement with Portugal, it was also learned that the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Ambassador Francisco Coy, made a working visit in Lisbon. There he spoke with the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Portugal, Francisco André, with the purpose of building a bilateral agenda that strengthens diplomatic relations.

As for those signed with Argentina, Foreign Minister Álvaro Leyva Durán and his counterpart Santiago Cafiero agreed to recognize national driver’s licenses so that citizens can move in a better way for tourism purposes.

The Colombian government also stated that it is working on the negotiation of this same benefit in countries such as Italy, France, Hungary and the United Arab Emirates.
