Durango returns to red light due to increase in Covid cases

The governor of Durango stressed that the application of the epidemiological traffic light, now in red, will begin this Tuesday and will continue at least until Tuesday, November 17.

José Rosas Aispuro, governor of Durango, reported this afternoon that the state returns to a red light due to the increase in positive cases of Covid-19 and positivity in tests carried out, as well as a higher hospital demand and the growth in the speed of infections and deaths.

The governor of Durango stressed that the application of the epidemiological traffic light, now in red, will begin this Tuesday and will continue at least until Tuesday, November 17.

Therefore, the Durango government applies the following measures:

  • The sale of alcoholic beverages in any form is prohibited.
  • Only essential economic activities such as the automotive, mining, forestry, energy and construction sectors will be allowed.
  • Supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, restaurants, food stalls (take out only) and hotels will operate with restricted capacity.
  • The state government will establish guards in all its dependencies, the personnel who do not work must remain in their homes, otherwise there will be sanctions that could lead to the termination of the employment relationship.
  • The religious temples will remain closed, therefore there will be no weddings, baptisms and confirmations; civil marriages will remain suspended.
  • Severe penalties will be applied to those who organize parties in private homes and party rooms.
  • Public transport will continue to operate with only 50 percent of its capacity and with very strict sanitation protocols to ensure that there are no contagions in transport and in the case of taxis and private vehicles, no more than three people, including the driver, may travel.
  • Mobility will be restricted from 10 at night to 5 in the morning and anti-alcohol operations will be strengthened in coordination with state councils.
  • Public squares and recreational areas such as gyms, swimming pools and sports centers will be closed to the public.

The governor stressed that the use of a mask and keeping a healthy distance; as well as personal hygiene protection measures will be a very important instrument that will reduce infections in the entity.

“I call again to society to show solidarity with each other so that we support the medical personnel, who, as I said at the beginning, are tired, worn out and require our support so that they continue to take care of the health of all Durango residents” he commented.
